Mala

Here is my prediction about the story Mala:
In the story, Mala have to adapt the new life of her,then I want to make the story this way:
Although she is trying to adapt with her new life,but no matter how hard she tried,she cannot accept it. She is fedup to seduce those men,that she thought were ugly,stinks,uneducated than her,and all bad things she could ever imagine. She is also fedup with her husband behaviour,at first he treat her nicely,but it is fade day by day. Sanker also start to beat her,whether he is drunk or not. He even has another women besides Mala. The worst part is,when both of them return to the village ,Sanker pretend to be such a loyal and faithfull husband towards Mala. Mala try to tell her mother about what she had been suffering,but all she received was another yelling from her mother,her mother even said that,it is normal to follow her husband order. Mala was so depressed and try to commit suicide but failed,because Lucy rescue her. After that Sanker became more violent towards Mala,Mala become more depressed day by day and lastly was sent to mental hospital,because she has mental disorder.

Mariah

'Marriage in different culture lead to two different perspective on bigamy,polygamy and monogamy'. For me,this is depend on the man himself, although different culture can be a main course for a conflict between husband and wife, but if the couples know how to solve it wisely,and if their love is really strong,there should not be any problems. This story presents,the typical Malay culture, it is nothing in Malay culture for a man to marry up to four women,because it is legal in the religion itself. In Malaysia,this is very common among Malay,but not Chinese,and Indian.

Tragedy of My Third Eye

• In my opinion,bullying is something that only those who want others to feel they are superior than anyone else will do. They felt proud when people acknowledge them with their power. For example, Linda, she bullied Ping(the narrator) because she wanted the whole class think that she is the superior than everyone else. Although not the whole class like her,but they rather be their follower. This shown that she has the power in the class.
• Third Eye represent of a girl who had a difficult time in her class and in home. She don't really have good time,especially in Miss Wang's class,who favoured Linda,Ping's enemy. In her home,she is not threated well by her aunt,who was recently became her mother. She missed her granmother very much.

Color Purple

The changes in the characters that I notice are:

• Celie-Before, she was a coward that doesn’t know how to protect herself. The treatment from her father made her became like that. She was afraid even to smile. However after met with Shug, and Sophia, she learned how to defend herself, she smile whenever she want to. At the end of the story, she can’t bare with her husband anymore, and decided to follow Shug and her husband.
• Shug-She had conflict with her with father. She felt that her father didn’t love her. She through her life with her own without rely on someone. After met with Celie, she felt sorry with her life and decided to help Celie.
• Sophia-She was born in the ‘man family’, that is why, she know how to protect herself. She won’t let anybody harm her. However her braveness can’t be accepted, especially at that time, where skin color is still an issue. In the end, her braveness put her in misery; she became maid of the ‘white’. At last, she accepted her fate.

Roles of women in the movie

Roles of women as potrayed in the movie is women are they were treated just like a thing. They were not treated as they supposed to be. They were not treated even as human being. For example, how can a father rape her child twice and sold the baby, to get money. Thus, in the movie women must know how to satisfied man,so that she can be happy. For example, Celie husband treat Shug good, because he likes her and she knew how to treat man.

Hungry Ghost

Here is my respond for Hungry Ghost story:

• The narrator searching for forgiveness from god,hoping that he won't go to hell,as he is too afraid of it.
• The grandfather want 'me' to relieve him from the agony of hell,because maybe he is afraid for what he had done in his life before,and being treated as those who sinned in Haw Par Villa.
• Offering food,hugging grave and burning money symbolize that,the deceased also need those kind of things,meaning that they want someone to pampered them,although they not with those who still alive
• Letter to my parents:

Thank you for your love and everything that you gave me,brought me up is not an easy thing to do for you,sorry for what I've done in my life,for every single thing that sad both of you up,I've tried my best to please both of you.I know I'm a lucky person on earth to get both of you as my parents,nothing in this world could be exchange with the moment we had together. There is not a word to be describe how thankful I am to be your daughter. Again,thank you for everything.

The Interview

Here is my response to the story The Interview:

• I think Mason says "Deprivation is largely an attitude of mind" simply because,he is an innocent man,but been suffered for several weeks. This is not common situation to happen for ordinary man like him. He thinks that the colonization attitude is mainly to get what they expected they should. The colonization is trying to control one's mind. The way Mason response to what he had been through was control by his mind. He can be better or worst if he think it is the way it should be.
• What deprive me is when I don't have enough strenght in me to do what I want to do in my life.
• For Mason ,what necessary for him at that time was nothing much,as he realizes even hunger can be not just unpleasant,but also a companion to him. He even question what is happiness.
• Necessary for me is money. Without money I don't think I can do anything in this world. Although money is not everything, but everything needs money. Saving is one way to make sure I have enough money whenever I need it.

Bugis

Here is my prediction about the story Bugis that have cliffhanger ending.
After the narrator pulls Salmah's tudung,the narrator saw the fact that Salmah is now bald. Both Sazalie and the narrator are very shocked,when Sazalie asked the narrator why she done that to Salmah,the narrator is force to tell the truth that she like Sazalie too. The narrator run away right after that. After sometime, the narrator met with Salmah and apologize to her,while Salmah told the narrator that Sazalie had dump her because she had skin disease on her head,the doctor asked her to bald her head for treatment purpose. The narrator also told Salmah that Sazalie once met her and try to be with her,but she refuse because she felt sorry for Salmah,and Sazalie is not quite right guy for her. Both Salmah and the narrator become friends again.

Story Review

Recently,my lecturer had asked us to give a comment to my friend review on our favourite story,so here is my comment toward the film Spiderman. This film had been review by one of my classmate,she said this story is great. I quite agree with her. Although the storyline is pretty common,its about a man who try to protect the world from the evil,but the stars and the effect of the sound make me enjoy the film. Plus the graphic in the film make it became one of the most interesting film to watch. The sequel of this film are Spiderman 2 and 3,which are more interesting than the first one.
